New Charger gets rude!

 
Behold everyone as Dodge launches pumped up version of their new Charger called SRT8. Under the hood Dodge has now given a bigger 6.4 litre V8 HEMI engine rather than 6.1 litre V8 HEMI which was in the old SRT8. Dodge claims that the new car provides better fuel efficiency. Engine cranks out 465 horsepower and 465 lb-ft torque which is a bit small. In today's world cars are producing 500 bhp, the_SHIFT thinks that this car has got a lot more still to give. The new SRT8 will debut at 2011 Geneva Motor show with production starting in 2012. 

 Dodge has really concentrated on the external looks of sharper version of SRT8 with a lot of bits of carbon fibre added on standard car. The front gives a real aggressive look which is vital for any muscle car to attract people.

New SRT8 features 14.3" Brembo brakes raplaced by 13.8" in the old SRT8 and first time ever Dodge has given flappy pedal gearbox in any of its cars along with regular foot pedals which is really good. This proves that CHARGER is still the car to buy in todays advance world...

2012 New Honda Civic

 Check this concept out, this was the concept Civic for 2012 and doesn't it look stunning? Honda claimed that the original production car will be similar to that shown here and guess what it is. The old Civic was a bit boring from the front but was good to reduce sir friction (as claimed by Honda) but anyway it didn't look nice as compared to its competitors. But now Civic is back and 2012 Civic is going to make its debut at 2011 Geneva Autoshow starting in a few days time.

 

 

The new model is very promising. Honda claims that this time they have spent a lot of time in fuel efficiency and to make it as green as possible to make this world a better place to live for polar bears. The american model will feature special car running on compressed natural gas. Interior is still lifted from old model but it is modified a bit which looks really promising.

Android goes to the top!

  

You think Nokia went up because of Symbian? Well, this is the truth that it was Symbian which took Nokia to its glory but now this old warrior is dying. This news is official from Nokia that their sales in 2011 has gone down by 20%. The Nokia’s share in New York stock exchange has gone down by 8% since the start of 2011. Reason being the competition between the companies and the OS they are using.

 

According to a report compiled few days ago by some convention related to telecom, it was revealed that Android has become the best OS choice of the customers which has given rise to the sales of HTC and Sony Ericsson Xperia series and all those smart phones which use android as their os. On number 2 is the famous Apple iPhone Mac and there is a tough competition between Windows and RIM for the third place. 

 

It was also made public that sales of Symbian smartphones were going down since july 2010 but start of 2011 has proved really bad for vendors using Symbian OS. As a consequence, and it is also official from Nokia, that Nokia has formed a partnership with Microsoft and from now on Windows phone will be regarded as a high end Nokia smartphone.

I think it really is the end of Nokia, and Android is the real superpower in smartphones OS world.  It is just like the Benq-Siemens partnership in mobiles which went horribly wrong.

Bahrain GP postponed

Disaster! 2011 Bahrain grand prix has been postponed due to tension in Bahrain. The Sultan of Bahrain announced two days ago that because of increasing tension in Bahrain, with people protesting on the streets, we can't afford to have such an event. Bahrain GP was the first Grand prix of 2011 F1 calender due on 12th march but now F1 fans have to wait 2 extra weeks to catch the action. First grand prix of the season will be Australian GP.

WRC Sweden

Here comes the thing about which whole world wants to hear. WRC.... If you take your stamina, your thinking speed, your decision making power, your reaction time to F1 level, think you're the dummest driver in the world of rallying. The 2011 WRC season started on 12th February. the_SHIFT brought you the news that Ford Focus has been replaced by razor sharp Ford Fiesta and Citreon C4 has been replaced by breath-taking DS3 but as it turned out, Fiesta simply trashed DS3 in swedish forests..

All top 3 slots got locked on by Fords with Citreons of Sabastien Loeb coming home 4th overall. Mikko Hirvonen won the Swedish rally with his Abu Dhabi Ford team.

2011 F1 cars...

Adrian Newey has got his 2011 challenger unveiled. Primarily the old car is used with some modifications to workout with 2011 F1 regulations. Red Bull Racing, powered by Renault engine, has got an all new design for exhaust pipes, thanks to massive KERS system being installed in new car.

 After a drastic 2010 season, MercedesGP team hopes to compete with the leaders for the championship this season. Whole car has been redesigned from head to toe to give Michael Schumacher a chance of winning another championship. A new livery has been given to make sure there is no sign of bad 2010 season.

 Ferrari, just like before has spent most of the time and money on developing new car. Ferrari says that they have concentrated the most on reliability issues but that doesn't seem to work out for them as Massa blew up an engine during testing 2 weeks ago...



MP4-26 launched....

 The best moment in F1 is when McLaren-Mercedes launches its challenger for up coming season. This is MP4-26 which is going to compete in 2011 F1 season. Unlike other teams which just remove an apron from new car and new car is unveiled, McLaren adopted a new and a bizarre way to show its challenger to general public.

 

Unveiling ceremony involved the assembly of whole car in front of the public and media. Car was unveiled in normal fashion but there was a car without any body part. Then McLaren engineers brought each piece one by one and fitted on the car. In the end Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button came with steering and head rest respectively to show the complete MP4-26....

Unlike 2010, 2011 cars feature KERS, now with more power, around 100PS for 6 seconds. Also gone are Bridgestone tag from tyres which, as you can see, is replaced by Perilli. Also gone this year are the double diffusers from real wing and adjustable rear wings has been introduced. Striking feature, unlike other 2011 F1 cars, in MP4-26 is U-shaped duct, just behind the air intake for engine. McLaren says its forces more air to the rear wing creating more downforce than normal. 

First MP4-12C rolls down MTC

The first proper McLaren MP4-12C which will be going to a customer, is about to arrive. The assembly start about 3 weeks ago. At the McLaren is building MP4-12C in a temporary facility near McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, England but soon production will start in 60 million euro McLaren's own production centre just outside MTC. 

 The MP4-12C has been called as the biggest rival of Ferrari 458 Italia, Lamborghini Gallardo LP570 and Mercedes SLS AMG. Because of ultra lightness this car is expected to be better than SLS and LP560 and it is going to be a tough call between MP4-12C and 458 Italia.

 The MP4-12C comes up with a new concept of Carbon-monocell in which backbone of whole car including chassis is made from a single piece of carbon fibre. All this fuss? The result it ultra lightness. 0-60mph in just shy of 3.0 seconds. 600bhp (which is greatest among all its rivals) from McLaren's own developed twin-turbo V8. Price? 167,000 pounds and guess what? it is least among its rivals.
