The Mysterious World Of Facebook

These days Facebook has entered in almost every person life, this is the statement that we mostly hear from different sources but has anyone thought how much of this statement is true. According to numbers on internet there are almost 1 billion users on Facebook and total world population is around 6.9 billion. It is indeed a very large number of people but still this 1 billion doesn’t include almost everyone, and many fake accounts are also present on Facebook.  So there are still many people who are still living without being on Facebook.

Why people use Facebook? The most common answer to this question can be that people want to stay connected with others and Facebook provides a good platform to stay connected. People stay in touch with their old class fellows, old colleagues and relatives. But there are other means of communication through which a person can stay in touch with other people like through emails, through different messengers through SMS or phone calls etc. There are many means of communication beside Facebook which can connect people.  But still why most of the people use Facebook instead of all other modes of communication even when the privacy is much much better in other networks. In my view answer to this question can be found if we look at the users of Facebook and see how they use it.

Let’s start with the real users. These are few people who just have accounts on Facebook to see pictures uploaded by their relatives and friends. These just come online and see updates of other people on Facebook and they see that if someone is online and if they want to talk with him or her they will chat a bit and will go offline.  Chat on Facebook is not as great as on skype or other networks, so most normal people will use other means to chat. Their profile will have few friends and they will not add everyone in their friend list. They have friends in their real lives that care for them and they know it and they also know what it means to meet a friend in real than on Facebook. These people also never discuss their problems in front of all other people who use Facebook.

Another type of users on Facebook are people who have a lot of free time in their lives and they don’t know how to pass it, so they just start using Facebook and add every other person as their friend, like evey page they see and subscribe to everything that they see. These people just get in trouble due to Facebook, they fight wars with their comments, and some of them get emotionally hurt. Some just leave Facebook after sometime and start over with a new account or delete everything in their account to start over.

Another type of people found on Facebook are very similar to the one who have a lot of free time in their life, but they use Facebook because they  have no real good friends to share things and get sympathy from. So they just make up a virtual world for themselves and start living a second life virtually in the Facebook. They do have a life in real world but they don’t like their real life, so they seek shelter in the virtual life. I have seen many such people in MMORPG games (people who play them know what these are and others should search it on net). These people are very depressed mostly and they create a virtual life because either they are tired of fighting with their lives or they have lost courage to directly see into the eyes of their problems to solve them.  These people just try to find happiness in virtual world and it is responsibility of people around them in real life to give them a shoulder on which they can put their head when they are in a hard time of life.

The next type of people found on Facebook is of those who just seek attention of people around them, they will try their best to impress their class fellows and colleagues in different ways. They will post status updates which depict showing off and they will upload their pictures in different posses and will expect that all the people who are around them in real life will like it and will post praising comments. Some people do that to impress the members of opposite gender by the same way. Such people are hypocrites and they depict themselves as the best person and the most talented person on the planet earth and in reality no one can be that much good. They want to gather as much people around them as possible and always try to be the center of attention. Some of them just publish each and every thing that they are doing in real life without realizing that most people doesn’t simply care about what they do and what they don’t. The most interesting thing about these people is that they will make a post that they are leaving Facebook forever, but they will never leave it. They just do this to gain some attention.

Another type of people found on Facebook are stalkers, they just don’t do anything on Facebook but will only see profiles of other people, they will just ransack the profiles of people whom they know in real life and will try their best to find points which they can exploit. These are the worst type of people. Some people do stalk other with good intensions some times, like parents or siblings of a person might make accounts on Facebook just only for stalking, and it does some time help people a lot in saving their children from falling in hands of bad people on Facebook.

Some people come on Facebook just to play games which are provided there. I used to be one of them but that was too much time consuming and I left all online games.

Some people who use Facebook are criminal minded people, who use Facebook to find their victims; their victims are mostly children or women.

Majority of users on Facebook are not of the type who use it for communication. Most people use Facebook for other purposes which I have written above. From this we can say that Facebook is a virtual world full of sick people who need psychological help. But the biggest point is that people who are living in a virtual world see oddly at people who are not Facebookers. And due to Facebook a person can get in psychological troubles which can never happen if a person doesn’t use Facebook and it gives you just extra things to worry about which decrease a person’s productivity.

There are many other problems related to Facebook,  like , people whom you gather around your self on Facebook might get envious or jealous of you without giving you any hint and it’s not a good idea to make other people jealous. Another problem related to Facebook is that you not only get connected to your real friends but you also get connected to unwanted friends. Most people will not like to say it but in reality no one wants to keep up with every person who used to be in their high school, college and university. It is considered bad to say that you do not want to be in contact with some people but still in every person’s life there are people with whom you will not like to be in contact, and due to Facebook you just get each and every unwanted person in your friend list and they are able to see what you are doing these days.

There are many other problems in Facebook about which a Facebooker knows better than non-Facebookers. Like I was chatting with my friend on skype when I was writing the first part of this article, he is a Facebook user and he did agree with me that Facebook is becoming sicker day by day and in his view Facebook is turning into a dating site for young generation.  Though he did try to convince me that Facebook does have a bit of good material but he failed (nice try iceman.  :D). Most of the things on Facebook are copy paste from other websites and you can get way too much great things on different websites than on Facebook, so we cannot consider Facebook as an information portal either.

Another problem of virtual life is that person thinks that his responsibility is over by just liking a cause or by protesting on Facebook. Virtual life makes a person impractical.

I once used to be on Facebook, and I did play many MMORPG games in the past. These two things have many similar effects on one’s life and many Facebookers and MMORPG players have similar problems in life. Though these two things are very different from each other but both take a person into a virtual world which you can construct according to your own will.

Using a Facebook is not a bad thing but it becomes a bad thing when it starts to affect your life. The first symptom that it has started to affect your life is that you will start considering it as an important part of your real life. I left Facebook because I want to have one single life and work to make it better, I do not personally like a virtual life along with a real life.

I would like to share some interesting things that I found when I was searching articles about Facebook, here they are:
