Psychopaths In a Psycho-World

Quite a long time ago, I wrote an article about narcissism, and in it, I wrote that it seems like we, the nation of Pakistan, are going towards the narcissism. It seems I made that statement due to my lack of knowledge. Now after studying more about behavior of people, things appear different to me. In reality we are psychopaths, who cannot be defined by any single label, we are the people who are walking on an evil path and consider it as the right one. If you think you are a very right person on a very right path, then it’s time to question your own righteousness.

Our personality is defined by our behavior with others.
Everyone has a different unique personality and set of behavior that he or she shows. When a person behaves in a manner that his behavior becomes a problem for himself or people around him, then it is considered that the personality of that person is not normal and he or she has got a personality disorder. Psychiatrists categorize these different patterns of bad behaviors into different personality disorders. Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders (DSM IV) define personality disorders in the following way.

Personality Disorders are mental illnesses that share several unique qualities.  They contain symptoms that are enduring and play a major role in most, if not all, aspects of the person's life.  While many disorders vacillate in terms of symptom presence and intensity, personality disorders typically remain relatively constant.

To be diagnosed with a disorder in this category, a psychologist will look for the following criteria:

1.      Symptoms have been present for an extended period of time, are inflexible and pervasive, and are not a result of alcohol or drugs or another psychiatric disorder.  The history of symptoms can be traced back to adolescence or at least early adulthood.
2.      The symptoms have caused and continue to cause significant distress or negative consequences in different aspects of the person's life.
3.      Symptoms are seen in at least two of the following areas:
o    Thoughts (ways of looking at the world, thinking about self or others, and interacting)
o    Emotions (appropriateness, intensity, and range of emotional functioning)
o    Interpersonal Functioning (relationships and interpersonal skills)
o    Impulse Control

Psychiatrists categorize different behavior patterns of personality disorders into antisocial, borderline, histrionic, narcissistic, avoidant personality disorder etc. The most problematic personality disorders are those which are categorized as Cluster B personality disorders. What these specific personality disorders are, one can simply know about them by searching on google. It will be copy paste if I start explaining what these are and in blog posts we try to give our own ideas and views about different things. The symptoms of these personality disorders, are behaviors that every normal person shows in appropriate way and time, so a lay person may start to think that every second person around him or he has got a personality disorder after reading all the info available on the Internet. My advice will be that don’t think that you are suffering from one if you don’t like to kill cats, or every other person does not runs away after interacting with you for a week, or you  don’t think that every other person around you is bad, and many more different thoughts like these. After reading about these conditions, if you start to label every other person around you as a patient of one of these conditions to look down at them then you might need to pay a visit to a psychiatrist or psychologist and in some cases you might already be in a lunatic asylum surrounded by such people.

After reading a lot about these different behavior patterns my own view of these conditions is it’s a bit inappropriate to call them mental illness, these are illness of thought. A person who is labeled as having one of the personality disorders has a sick way of thinking, he or she cannot think in a healthy way. And due to such sick thoughts a person does get mental and physical illnesses. The most interesting thing that is common in all of personality disorders is that the odd behaviors are related to something inside themselves. Many behaviors are common in different personality disorders, but the core of all is the self of the person. In other words we can say these people are selfish and egoistic. They are unable to think about others. They only think about themselves. They have never learned about how to think about feelings of other people.

Another school of thought call these people the dark souls. Another group says that they are the psychic vampires, who suck out your life energy and make you feel depressed and tired all the time. Some say they have a monster hidden inside them. Everyone says something’s wrong with something inside them. My personal view is that their souls are weak and damaged. This happens because they are not raised in a proper way, they are not taught properly what’s good and what’s bad. It’s totally due to the parenting that a person gets such behavior problems, whether it’s genetic, bad parenting or any other reason; it’s simply related to the childhood of the person. But every person who has a bad childhood doesn’t turn out like this. It’s the ego of the people with personality disorder that doesn’t let them change; they always think that they are on the right path and don’t need to change anything. There is a famous saying that it’s not your fault how you were raised but it will be your fault to remain like this.

My personal thoughts about such people are that these are selfish, egoistic people who think that they are more important than other people. They have fallen in the hands of devil and have no remorse on their evil acts, they always blame others. They can go to any extent to show to other people that they are great people but get angry and act weirdly when someone finds out their true face. These are the people who defy the famous saying; first impression is the last impression.
Another possible cause of these personality disorders can be that the child is not taught compassion, empathy and feelings for other people, or child is brought up on illegal money. But due to their ego they cannot admit that something’s wrong with them. Their treatment is only that they should realize themselves that they are on the wrong side. And they should become more religious and increase their faith in Allah (God) and try to have less negative thoughts and opinions about other people. The bad thoughts about other people just make their hearts as dark as a coal mine and destroys their soul.

While writing this, a lot of things were coming in my mind to write but I have to write it very carefully, because people with personality disorder just love to be victims to gain sympathy. Even after reading this they will say, “Oh look! How horrible and heartless this person is, saying such things for us, I wish he should loose his leg or his senses, then he will know how is it to live a life in a disability.” In my view, psychiatrists have done a wrong job by calling personality disorders an illness, because it gives an excuse to such people to act like this and gain sympathy which they love to get.
Most of the people with personality disorder are very sweet and charming at first, and those who go near them are the only people who see their true face. They are more sweet, humble and well mannered than a normal person. They are like hunters out there just hunting their prey with their nice behavior. They are like a bitter almond coated with sugar syrup. Just stay at a distance from them to have a good time with them, the moment you go near them your bad time starts. They trap you in a no win situation and you do not see any way to get out of it.

There are many such people around us; it’s very hard to identify them. Whenever you see someone who is very nice, much nicer than a nice person, then just have a doubt that the person you are dealing with might not be a normal one and observe them for sometime before trusting them. The people with personality disorder are hypocrites, who seem to be very good until you don’t deal with them. And psychiatrists have given them a place to act like this by labeling them as mentally ill people. In reality they are just evil people who should be spanked till they learn how to behave properly and learn that they are not special people who will get any special treatment. They are simply the psychopaths who are out there to make lives of people around them miserable.

  1. yep, according to your post most of the people now are victim of personality disorder, not only that, they also have that materialistic approach to the world and everything that matters to them is what they have. They can't appreciate you, they can't hug you, they just can't be happy at your promotion. They just negate the notion of being good and have good.
And that narcissism thing, well it still exists, its an internal part of the society now, "I am Mr.All known" phobia is there and man it is at its extreme level. People have got simply zero patience to listen to some other person resulting in the society full of people who are victims of inferiority/superiority complex.
The world ain't no good now, this thing has even got instilled not between professionals but relatives and school going children. In my view, the soul reason behind this is the haram/corruption, the black money that is circling around in our veins, plus the difference between the rich and the poor and sonay py sohaga is our social and print media which is constantly escalating it rather then doing something good about it.
Finally the post is really good, very comprehensive and to the point and informative too, we need that kind of stuff rolling down our streets for the betterment of the society.

  2. Its very odd condition of our society. Rich people say that poor should work hard to improve their living, and when a poor works for the same rich man, he gets not much in return. Wealthy people want to get every thing done for free without spending a single coin, because they consider them selves as special.
And poor one just cries that they are poor so thats why they need special treatment. When you give some work to the poor, they think we should give our each and every penny to them because they accepted to work for us.
Its really a confusing situation. To come up with an actual solution of this problem seems to be very hard. Its very hard to change the way people think. It was the duty of parents in the first place. Its like, you can bend a seedling to any direction easily but not a grown up tree. If a tree becomes a threat for a house, its simply cut down. Thats the easiest solution.
May be we should not consider ourselves as much special as we think at the moment. Lets try to be normal human beings and hope for the good.

  3. We have lost the will, courage and strong beliefs to work hard for our living, we just want to get everything without spending any energy which is against nature's law, one way or another, the energy has to get out, good way or the bad way.
and one more thing is the tolerance, now the society has almost zero tolerance level for anyone. No one is willing to let go a single penny now, its like the west culture got instilled within us.
